Citron is a neighborhood favorite in Oakland's bustling Rockridge District as well as a popular destination restaurant known for its charming, welcoming ambience. Executive chef and owner
Chris Rossi's authentic French and Mediterranean dishes make full use of the Bay Area's finest ingredients and freshest produce on a menu that changes weekly. In addition the the à la carte choices, the prix fixe menu option is legendary for its variety. Suggested wine pairing make it easy to enjoy winning combinations, and a heated back patio adds to Citron's comfort and casual elegance. Rossi has dedicated his life to mastering all aspects of French cuisine and to the the art of creating and running restaurants that excel in food, service, and interior design.

Trained in the European apprentice style, he began cooking while still in high school with Paula La Duc Catering and the Wente Vineyards Restaurant. He went on to open the Steelhead Brewery and Café Zenon in Oregon before returning to California in 1994 to work with Craig Thomas at Citron.

SF Chronicle full review

"Is this Oakland?" demand disoriented diners visiting chef-owner Chris Rossi's "very French" spot where a "hearty", ever changing menu (emphasizing "housemade charcuterie"), "caring staff" and "comfy" (but "perhaps too simple") decor add up to the definition of a neighborhood bistro.
